you're right, I do realize most of my fears about this project is based on my inexperience and the unknown. I have however taken one of my friends out of the creative process because no one is agreeing with anything he says. He is also trying to be extremely professional like writing out the scrpt in script form. So i'm kinda taking him out of the picture unless i need him in a role.

So far out horror is based loosely on a urban legend. the story only tells about this old man sending these women somewhere and they end up dieing as a result of being sent to this place. but we are going to show the movie as more of a story about what the man is going through and why he is doing this. Sounds a little odd right now but i dont want to tell too much because we are still thinking things through. Oh and yes once it's done I'll make a video copy small enough to post on the net for everyone to watch. I'd appreciate your feedback on the finished project.

First time? Dont bight off more than you can chew. Stick with a guy and a girl, straight sex, maybe a bit of oral. Keep your lights to a minimum and remember to cover your shots (wide, mid, tight). I wouldnt bother with much plot, maybe he's a plumber come to fix her boiler- all you need then is a toolbag, a kithen (for the boiler scene) and some lube.
Ideally you should finish on a cumshot, spunk bubbling on lips, bleary wink to camera.

    tonga

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Yeah, mate, most people know how a porno ends, no need for the detail.

Just MAKE something. I'm currently trying to make a short film based on Richard Matheson's 'I Am Legend'. Yeah, it's been done before, but it gives me an oppurtunity to try out other things apart from holding a camera, i.e. latex masks, make-up and costumes. It'll take a bit of prep (It's currently in a pre-production stage) but I'm going to make it.

Think of a genre you really like or think you can do. Nothing fancy. If it's a comedy, think of a situation that could (maybe it's one you've already seen somewhere else) if it's zombie movies (a resounding cheer goes out throughout the boards) then make a five-minute short of someone being chased through the streets by some slow lumbering zombies-Only to turn round and defen himself. He doesn't have to win, he can lose. Maybe something happens that makes the Zombies turn good, maybe one of them, I don't know, finds him cute or something.

    It really is that easy.

    Now make something!

one advice. You said you'r gonna do something 30 minutes long... I'd try 10 minutes instead!

And a suggestion: Shoot a short story. Just go to the library and pick up a book of short stories by Stephen King or someone and shoot it! I've been working on tv and basically just doing movies as a hobby, but that's exactly what I've been thinking of doing. Actually I've been thinking of producing (with my friends) one movie in a month. Very fast productions based on short stories. Just to practice camera -angles and lighting and working with film (8mm) and directing...

I agree that it is usually easier to start out with incredibly short 10 min. films instead of going for a half an hour film. However I do believe that writing ideas for your own shorts is much better practice and is also much more rewarding when you finish the final film.
